PEOPLE & PERFORMERS

COLLECTION

To this day, Dreamland is renowned for its fantastic musical entertainment events and performers.
Throughout the years a num
ber of famous bands and artists have performed at Dreamland.

The 'swinging' sixties were a time of great change and contrasts, which saw a youth-driven cultural revolution take place in the United Kingdom.

One of the biggest, defining aspects of the 1960s was music and Dreamland saw the impact of this when the ballroom, gave way to single night performers instead of the resident band.
Although rock and roll began having an effect on Britain in the 1950s, it wasn’t until the early Sixties and the emergence of ‘British Invasion’ groups like The Beatles, that music truly began its revolutionary changes.

Part of Dreamland's music heritage happened on 15th August 1963, when the Rolling Stones played at Dreamland's Ballroom. Remarkably they were not top of the bill that night, but supporting the Barron Knights!
It was reported that after their performance the group had to spend some of the evening locked in the "gents loos" after their dressing room key was mislaid....leaving hundreds of screaming girl fans waiting outside!

What musical legends have you see perform at Dreamland over the years? We would love to hear your memories!
