Dreamland Heritage Trust appoint Mick Tomlinson as its new chair

14 JUNE 2023

Mick Tomlinson, former Mayor of Margate, has been appointed by the Members of the Heritage Trust as their new chairman.

Mick has lived in Margate all his life, and been very involved in the town, and for a number of years worked on the management at Dreamland, planning events and publicity, he's always taken a keen interest in developments of the park over his life.

A lot of people will know Mick as the DJ Mick Tee, who used to appear in the Ballroom and Bars in the late 60s and 1970s, which always bring back memories to us all.

Mick says he looks forward to working with the trustees and listening to their various comments, views and ideas to take the trust forward.

Everybody who knows Dreamland whether they live local or from a far and has visited over the years, always has a memory about the park, and story to tell.

Tamara Rattigan Project Manager for DHT said:  “We are delighted to see Mick appointed as the Trust’s new chair. Mick has such a passion for Dreamland and its rich heritage and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the history of the park.”
Mick has also spent a number of year’s building a miniature recreation model of Dreamland, with his first creation built in the 1960’s. Part of the model is currently on display at Dreamland Margate as part of the DHT Dreamcatcher exhibition. The new Trust exhibition is inviting visitors to come and record their memories of Dreamland (past and present) inside the Dreamcatcher video booth. It is located in the main concourse of the park opposite the Ballroom.

The video memories will be added to the DHT archive as well as being used to create a video montage which the Trust will share later this year at a special screening.
The Dreamcatcher exhibition is open from now until September between 11am-4pm daily during park opening times.

The Dreamland Heritage Trust’s Virtual exhibition is also available online and can be accessed at dreamlandheritagetrust.org.uk/virtual-exhibition
